The Gardner Rink at St. Mark’s School faced significant challenges, including poor ice conditions that often forced home games to relocate. S3 Design, in collaboration with Marathon Construction, transformed the rink to enhance performance, fan experience, and school branding.

To address insulation issues, the exterior metal panels were replaced with insulated ones, and the exposed space frame was wrapped in reflective insulation. Upgraded energy-efficient lighting and a new ceiling material have brightened the rink, improving player safety and live-stream broadcast quality.

The main lobby was refreshed with modern lighting and a butt-glazed window system, allowing spectators to feel connected to the action without exposure to the cold. Custom graphics in the lobby and spectator areas amplify school spirit. Now, Gardner Rink looks and performs like a new facility, giving the Lions a true home-ice advantage.
