Scandinative

Currently, in the planning and design process, Scandinative will make the benefits of hot and cold-water therapy accessible to the Alexandria, Virginia community.  Building from what centuries of Norwegian communities have known, Scandinative is designed around transitioning from hot to cold environments.

The main level of the building is home to the reception area and locker rooms.  This area is designed to transition the patron from everyday life in the Washington D.C. area to an environment that is quiet, soothing, and therapeutic.  The journey starts with a large stone wash basin that allows the clientele to wash their hands and start the process of engaging with water as a cleansing element. The locker rooms are well-appointed and are designed to reflect a Nordic living area.

A large ceremonial stair connects the locker room level to the lower level of the building where patrons will experience multiple water and heat elements.  These areas include multiple temperature small pools, cold plunge tanks, steam, and sauna rooms as well as relaxation areas.  Guests can spend up to two hours in this environment before being escorted to the upper level of the building where a variety of spa treatments are offered.  At the conclusion of a guest’s treatment, they are then escorted back to the locker rooms for the final leg of their journey that sees them heading back into life revitalized.
