Equinox Dartmouth - Boston, MA

Project Summary

The Equinox Fitness Club brand is known throughout the United States as one of the most high-end club experiences.  As their first club in the Boston area, this location had to make an immediate presence in an already crowded health club market.

The mind/body elements of the program are contained in a spherical ‘vessel’ form.  The Yoga Studios, Pilates, and Spa elements are all encompassed within the ‘vessel’, and serve as an organizational device as members circulate through the club.

The entrance sequence is designed to evoke the feel of a boutique hotel, delivering high-end personal service.  The cardio and strength floors are positioned to ensure the energy from the fitness environment is felt throughout the club.

The locker rooms are viewed as ‘high touch’ areas. Although the majority of the materials are simple, focal points and accent features are composed of richer materials.  This strategy creates an elegant space while keeping the project’s budget in tact.

Additional program elements include: a cycling studio, a group fitness studio, a boxing studio, a Kinesis area, an outdoor obstacle course, spa services, juice bar, and pro shop.  All of these elements, plus the Equinox level of service have combined to deliver the immediate presence that Equinox was striving for when they expanded into the Boston fitness market.
